Harley Quinn, portrayed by Margot Robbie, is a DC Comics character who made her live-action film debut in the 2016 film *Suicide Squad*. Originally Dr. Harleen Quinzel, she was a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum.

While working at Arkham, Quinzel became fascinated with and subsequently fell in love with the Joker. She eventually helped him escape, adopting the persona of Harley Quinn, his devoted accomplice and girlfriend.

Her character is defined by her manic energy, unpredictable behavior, and twisted sense of humor. Although deeply devoted to the Joker, their relationship is abusive and volatile. In *Birds of Prey*, Harley Quinn establishes independence by creating a new life after breaking up with the Joker.

Harley Quinn continues to exist in the DCEU. She uses her chaotic intelligence to wreak havoc as well as become her own vigilante and a leader of others who have been wronged.
